I am receiving attachments from one correspondent that are in MIME format. I
am unable to open them. How can I open the attachments? What settings in OE
enable his sending in MIME format?

Thanks.

So what e-mail client do YOU use that doesn't support MIME? MIME is an
8-year old encoding standard for attachments, inline sound, separation
of text/plain and text/html parts within the same message, encrypted
content, and other uses.

I am using OE. What else could be interfering?

Do I need to associate an application with the .mime file? What application?

Are you actually getting some error message saying an e-mail contains
MIME encoded parts within it? Or are you complaining about the security
feature in OE that prevents opening of hazardous filetypes, like .exe,
..com, .vbs, and other executable attachments? If the problem is the
latter, there is a security option in OE to disable the security feature
so you can access the hazardous attachments.

What does "unable to open them" really mean? What happens when you try?
Is the attachment disabled so you can't try?

I get an error message to the effect that the attachment cannot be opened
because there is no application associated with that file type.

'Tis I, again. The sender of the problem message/attachment changed an
option on his MAC (no wonder we were having a problem) and resent the
message. I was able to open the attachment this time.

Thanks for your patience and suggestions.
