....I'm using Windows XP Pro with Outlook 2003, but this also applies to
Outlook XP. Usually, when I attach files they appear in the header area.
Sometimes, they show up in the body of the message which can be irritating.
This happens with new and/or replied to messages. Any ideas as to why, and
can I do anything to prevent it? Just a little niggling problem.

Thanks in advance

Attachments appear under the subject line when using HTML or Plain Text
Format and in the body of the message when using RTF. Outlook always replies
to messages in the format that they are sent in, so if that differs from
your default setup, then the attachment location may vary too.

You can't have 2 Office Outlook's on the same computer. (Outlook Express is
not related to Outlook and is necessary for OL to work right.) Do you mean OE
6 is the same? Outlook always attaches files, while OE inserts them. You
should select one email program as the default in IE, Tools, Internet
Options, Programs.

Not if Rich Text Format (Outlook default setting) is used. The attachment is
then "inserted" into the body of the message.

OK, but I now find that I have an extra line space (carriage return) at the
end of paragraphs. Any way to stop this?

TIA

I should have clarified that I'm using OL 2003 and colleagues are using OL XP
- I'm not using both (oops)!.
