Attachment problems in Outlook

I have Outlook 2003 on my computer with Windows XP Professional. 2.8G
processor and 1G RAM. Before Xmas I received an email from a trusted source
that contained cartoons. Very funny. Since then when new emails with
graphic attachments are received and I then open them with the default (in
Outlook) program of Windown Picture and Fax Viewer, the old Xmas cartoon
graphics show up in addition to the new material. This occurs if I click the
forward arrow to show the attachment(s) in the new and after the new is
viewed the old Xmas cartoons then appear when I continue to click the forward
arrow. THe old file does not contain a virus, I've checked this and I have
a virus program that runs continuously and is daily updated. Also have
Microsoft Antispyware program, SpySweeper, etc. The computer functions
normally but I would like to remove this repeating file on my new emails.
Thanks. I have deleted the old file but not completely for fear of losing
all contact with the source. Maybe that is all I need to do??

Attachments in Outlook need to be on-disk before they can be seen. Outlook
does this in a folder called the Outlook Secure Temp Folder. Sometimes
Outlook fails to empty that folder when it closes and so you see prior
attachments. (See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817878/en-us) One of the
Office 2003 service packs was supposed to have addressed this issue, but
judging from the cited article, it would appear not. To clear the Secure
Temp Folder, see this:

Brian,
Thanks for the help. I followed your suggestions and when the
OutlookSecureTempFolder opened in Explorer the repeating attechment file came
up. Wasn't certain what to do with it then but I selected all of the
components and merely deleted all of them. That seems to have resolved the
problem and when I go back to the registry folder (Outlook.....Temp..Folder)
it is empty. So I guess I did the correct thing.
Perhaps can answer another question I have about OUtlook 2003. I
occasionally received an email that contains a number of photo attachments.
I cannot open more than one at a time and this becomes somewhat "labor"
intensive. Is there anyway to display/open all of the photos in one pane.
You can do this in Outlook Express and it is a nice way to see everything by
merely scrolling down the one pane.
THanks again.

Well I'm not a programmer and can't follow the context of the outlookcode
site you listed. Sounds like this is the answer I am looking for if I can
find some way to put the code in my computer without having a degree in
computer science. Any suggestions??
