attaching printer

trying to get lexmark printer to work with windows2000.
Did have windows98 prev. and printer has been sitting
obsolete for 3 yrs. when windows98 crashed had a guy
install 2000,every time try to get printer set up the
icons disappear. Can you help?
 
Probably printer drivers/software. Checkout lexmark site for win2k
drivers/software for yr printer
