attaching photos

Hi,
I have just transferred files from XP to Vista and started using my mail.
When I select a photo, choose email and then select a size it indicates it
is attaching but no new message window opens.
Would welcome any help.

I went to the start menu to set defaults, said I had it set, went ahead and
clicked it anyhow and now it works. Thank you John
