Attachements not working

All of a sudden, when I try to attach a Word document to my email, it is put
in the body of the email and no longer in the attachment box at the top. ALSO
it send the attachement out in a format that no one can open. How can I fix
this?

Change your message format from Rich Text to Plain Text or HTML
