Is there a patient MVP out there who can help me install Win 2000 on a
DELL laptop that presently runs Win98SE? I have the Win 2k CD.

I need step by step instructions (super Senior-84) for formatting the
HDD and installing the new OS from the CD.

Furthermore, how to revert back if I have problems or don't care for the
Win 2K OS.

Thanx.

Hi,
Login to Windows 98 and place the W2K upgrade CD into the CD-ROM drive.
Windows will recognize the CD and asks if you would like to upgrade to
W2K. Select Yes.

The installation procedure brings up the "Windows 2000 Setup" window.
Choose Upgrade and select Next

or,

Start from the Windows 2000 Professional installation CD-ROM. Make sure
that the CD-ROM is set to start before the hard disk starts (enter the
BIOS and change that sequence). Insert the CD-ROM, and then when you are
prompted, press any key to start the Windows 2000 Professional Setup
program.
