Ati-What's the score

Can anyone explain to me why I cannot buy a "built by ATi" card in the UK at
the moment. I obviously missed an announcement somewhere. I have been
looking at upgrading to a Radeon 9600 but always find cards by other
manufacturers that I've never heard of. How do I know which is going to be a
decent purchase? I mean they are all called Radeon 9600 but I get the
impression there will be some differences. Can anyone explain please.

I thought ATI was a chip manufacturer. Just about every ATI card I've ever
seen has been labelled "powered by ATI". -Dave

I think one of the manufacturers is actually ATI - possibly Sapphire, I
can never remember.
