ATI powerColor

Hello Everyone
I have a X800GT card for nearly a year and seems to me their quality is
still not as good as the real ATI.
The fan makes a horrible noise seems like the motor bearings are worn out, I
had a real ATI before
and they never had this problem. Is it hard to replace the fan heatsink and
what brand do you suggest?
I will never buy Power color again this is not the first bad card I have
had.

Thanks

Yeah, I made the mistake of buying a Pooedacolor card once. Never again.

The X800GT is exclusively a "partner product", so you won't find ATi-branded
ones easily. Does your card look like this?

Replacement is easy. Just remove four screws (usually, could also be two
screws) and the heat sink comes off. A popular replacement fan/sink is
Arctic Cooling:

Very good performance, very quiet, and 6-yr warranty. Though you need plenty
of room between the video card and the hard drive cage. Zalman and
Thermalright also makes compatible fan/sinks for this card.

"Nearly a year" means the card is still under warranty, right? The cheapest
solution might be contacting Powercolor and asking them to send you a new
fan/sink.

Ironically, the high-end cards are less risky. All the X1800XT and X1900XT
cards are built by a 3rd-party (usually Celestica in Toronto) and simply
relabeled for each board vendor, so all the brands are the same.
Powercolor's warranty is better than ATi's.

I went to the supplier who conacted the distributor who I'm told I have
return my video card and
get it replaced they don't have spares so I will not have computer for a
week.
Yes it is the one in the picture.

The fan/sink is a fairly common design, used by other vendors like
Sapphire.

Of course, that's standard party-line for retailers and distributors, since
they obviously don't have loose spare parts on hand. Have you contacted
Powercolor directly?
