Ati Mobility 9700 problems

Hi all!
I'm Marco and I'm writing from Italy.
I have an Acer Travelmate 292lmi (Centrino 1.5Ghz), 512Mb ram, windows
xp with sp1, ati mobility 9700 (64Mb) ....and I have one big problem.
In the 3d games (d3d or openGL) the video card hang more or less hard
(in Neverwinter Nights less, in Fifa 2005 or ProEvolution Soccer the
hanging is very hard). In some games (jedi Outcast and Neverwinter
Nights) it seems a slow refresh of the screen....
I verified there isn't no virus or trojan in my system, because the
system is newly installed and clean.
I tried the latest omega drivers but no change.
At the moment I think there is an hardware problem (the AGP driver of
Acer), but sincerely I don't know.
Can you give me some suggestion,please?
I'm in the desperation!:-(

does it always hang or is it like in 3 minute bursts? or some other interval? Mine used to do that (mobility radeon 9600, tho) and my problem was not video card related tho..
