ATI Graphics Driver problem

Ri ck

I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem where XP
just freezes, goes into safe mode, window comes up that
says a serious error has occured and the system has
recovered. Then the error report window comes up and
sends the error report, and then a the windows homepage
comes up with the following message:
An Update Is Available

Thank you for submitting an error report. The error was
likely caused by:

ATI Graphics Driver

ATI Graphics Driver was created by ATI® Technologies,
Inc.. ATI® Technologies, Inc. has updates for ATI
Graphics Driver that may correct the problem you
reported. To learn more about the updates, see the ATI®
Technologies, Inc. Web site.

http://www.ati.com/online/msoca

If the problem persists, please contact ATI®
Technologies, Inc. and alert them of the problem.

I have downloaded the new graphics drivers and installed
them according to the directions. I get another message
that says that the hardware was not found.
The problem has been happening for the last 3 months. I
did a system restore and it stopped for a couple of
months, but now it has started again, adn I'm not sure
how to get the problem fixed.
HELP!

Did you follow the update procedure that is posted on their site.

Which model ATI card do you have?
Control Panel - Display - Settings page, click Advanced and in Adapters
it will say what Chip type, which is what matters
