ATI Graphics card error

Hi

I don't know where to post this query but hopefully this forum is ok. I just
logged on to my pc and got a message saying the pc had recovered from a
serious error. The log says 'Error caused by ATI Graphics Driver'.

Does anyone know what might have caused this? The log is suggesting I should
update the graphics card driver but I have no idea how to go about this.
Could someone talk me through how to do this? I'm not sure I even know how to
find out what version of driver I have at the moment.

Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

Find out more about what you have.

This freeware programme is excellent for getting information about your
computer:
Everest Home Edition (freeware)
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight required
text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this is fine for
posting small amounts of information into newsgroup messages
longer reports will irritate other newsgroup subscribers.

A Graphics card can also be called a Video Adapter.
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/V/video_adapter.html

You need the make and model -the make is obviously ATI so you only
need the model from Everest.

Hope this helps.

Hi Malke

Thanks for the help. I was just about to post a reply asking for advice on
retrieving the information.
