ATI File Player Stops Working After DirectX 9.0b Upgrade

I have an AIW 7500 NTSC card that was working just fine on the Catalyst 3.6
drivers until I was finally forced to upgrade to DirectX 9.0b. I held off
upgrading because of the numerous issues users had experienced with DirectX
but with all of the Microsoft WinXP security issues, I reluctantly made the
upgrade. I ended up losing the TV video GUI. I could hear TV sound but I got
no picture. I ended up doing a complete reinstall of WinXP. Everything now
works except for the ATI File Player. The GUI loads but all of the video
options are greyed out so no picture appears. I need this to play vcr files
created by the TV Capture. Does anyone have a fix for this or will I be
forced to spend $25 to buy the new MMC from ATI? Will that fix it?

There is a known issue with DirectX and non-NTSC (SECAM and PAL) TV-out...
but this doesn't sound like that problem, since you're using NTSC, right?

The fix for it was on Windows Update.

Hmmm, all of the overlay settings are greyed out as well. I'll send in a bug
report on the Rage3D Bug list and a tech support request to ATI. I'll report
my findings back here.

You are correct but there have been AIW NTSC users who experienced problems
with DirectX 9.0b as well. I have an AIW 7500 retail model and I used the
23MB Catalyst 3.7 driver file for installation, but there still appear to be
problems as I have no Overlay controls as well. I am forced to contact ATI
(meaning that I'm DOOMED!).
