There is apparently a conflict between the capture capabilities of my video card and my new web cam (or any other capture device for that matter. I have a PC with XP pro SR1, 1 GB ram and an AMD 1800+ cpu. I have installed all the XP updates and new XP drivers for the 2 devices. The video card captures TV signals fine. The web cam installs, but isn't recognized when plugged into the USB port. The web cam works on a Win98se PC with a PII 233 so I know the hardware is ok.
Both tech support groups tell me to either disable or remove the other device, but haven't said how to disable only the capture capabilities of the AIW or how to re-enable it. It seems obvious that I can't disable the entire video card, but that hasn't occured to the tech support people
Is this really that difficult a thing to do under XP? If it is, then the manufacturers should warn consumers before purchase
Is this a situation where I should establish a second hardware profile? How do you switch between hardware profiles
Any help will be most appreciated
