That totally depends on the motherboard. Your CPU speed is a combination of
CPU clock and multiplier. Most motherboards should choose the appropriate
settings automatically, though some you might have to set a jumper or two.
If you have to ask how to overclock, do NOT overclock. -Dave

Hi,

It all depends on your motherboard. Some of the boards I've worked on set
the FSB to a speed of 100 with that chip when started for the first time.
Others hit it right on. Check the FSB speed and make sure it says 166 (2 x
166 will yield the nominal 333 mhz speed of this chip) and you should be OK.
Setting it higher is the start of overclocking. Before you play OC games
though read your mb manual to learn how to reset the bios and recover should
your machine balk at the idea of overclocking. There are many variables here
and one of them could simply keep the computer from starting. When that
happens some people go into heart attack mode, which is quite unpleasant.

Some of the 2500+ Barton Athlons are unlocked.
If your MB will allow an FSB of 200, your PC will think it is an Athlon
XP3200 (Like mine does) !

Take care though....

Actually, that is the only method for overclocking the *locked* Bartons; saying that a Barton is
locked means that the multipliers are locked, leavng an increase in FSB as the only method
available for overclocking. IIRC they started locking them about week 39 of 2003
