at-sign in a password & screensaver

Hi,

I have this situation where I have reset my password (company policies)
to a new one that includes an @ (at-sign) i.e.: 'catWom@n'.

Login to Win XP-SP1 after boot is no problem.
On the same machine, after the screensaver goes off (protected with
password) and I return to my keyboard, the new password is not
accepted.

The only workaround I have is to use another user logon (this will do a
log off) to get back to the Windows sign-on window because the dialog
box asking for user/password from the screensaver does not accept my
new password.

thx for your help.

Are you logging onto a domain, or do you have Novell as well or is it a
workgroup that you are logging onto?

Does your compay have a password policy and what is it?

I presume it is XP pro?

Not logged to a domain. No Novell. Default workgroup MSHOME.
WinXP Pro SP1 yes.

What has the policies to do here that it would accept or not my
password from screensaver dialog or OS sign-on ?
The password change has been accepted according to existing policies.
Which policies are thinking of ?

And BTW, forgot to mention, I have local admin role.

Where are you US or UK?

UK/US why would it make a difference ?
It is a pure english US install.

So far, I understood that the window asking for logon/password when
resuming from screensaver is different from the one of windows sign-on.
Why the one from the screensaver does not accept my new password is a
mystery... may be one of these nice Microsoft features...

one more detail. the failing window is the 'lock computer' one
(ctrl+alt+del then lock computer) which is the same used by the
screensaver option 'on resume, password protect'.

Found it.

The '@' sign is not at the sample place on a QWERTY US compared to
QWERTY dutch keyboard...
I recall I had this issue of default keyboard drivers already on NT4...
