Asus service sucks

I consider myself a loyal Newegg customer but recently bought a K8N-E
Deluxe from a vendor at a local Computer Show for the same price Newegg
had it for. (I know. Shame on me, but I could take it with me then and
didn't have to wait) Everything was great for the first 32 days and of
coarse past the vendors return period. No post. AGP slot no longer
worked. I was using an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro and had to use a PCI video
card to get it to post. Also discovered the Power Fan header (PWR_FAN)
stopped working and under Hardware Monitor it read
VCORE Voltage 1.552V
3.3V Voltage 3.296V
5V Voltage 5.059V
12V Voltage 0.000V (in red)
After many calls over several days and waiting on hold on a non toll
free number I finally spoke with someone at tech support who determined
that it was a defective board, gave me a case number and told me to
call back (the same number, couldn't transfer me) and to select the RMA
dept. I did, waited on hold about 20 minutes and spoke to a lady that
took my number and name and said someone would call me back with an RMA
number but didn't know when! I called back several times since then and
get the same thing. I've had to RMA products before to other companies
and have never had to deal with something as this. This seems to be a
pattern with Asus after reading about this sort of behavior on the
Internet. Be cautious before buying an Asus product and if you must buy
it, buy it from Newegg to avoid these hassles. I'm sitting on a board I
can't use and wish I had waited.

Wouldn't matter where you bought it, after 30 days it's all Asus and they
are the worst tech company for support I've ever dealt with. You don't
expect quality products to last 4or 6 weeks and fail. They usually die
initially or last their intended product life.Like you said they Suck!

That's strange. I guess their RMA process has changed. When I had to RMA a
board I spoke to someone obviously from America and it was done with. The
time was rather long and my first RMA came damaged. The second RMA was fine
as was the second phone call to tell them the RMA was damaged.

I had to RMA a board last year and found it to be easier than I was
expecting. I just entered the details on their RMA site:

http://rma.asus.com/enduser/RmaRequest.aspx

and got an RMA# and instructions within a day.

The repair took a few weeks but the process was relatively painless.
