Asus A8V - A64 3200+ Overclock

I'm sure I'm just having a bad day searching, but finding basic overclocking
information for this combo has eluded me.
I think I know some things, and I'm sure I don't know many others.
Basically, increasing the "FSB" is the way to overclock, correct?
I know I can lock the PCI/AGP frequencies, and should.
I think I should increase voltage to both the CPU and memory. Any
suggestions how much?
As I am running Geil CAS 2 PC3200 memory (2 x 512 meg), I'm thinking I'll
need to relax the CAS setting as I increase the "FSB", correct?
What about the HT Frequency setting, should it be changed from 1000 MHz?
Any other settings I need to adjust?

So far, all I've done is play with the AI Overclocking with somewhat
disappointing results. The 3% overclock is fine, but 5% won't boot into
Windows. From the reports I'd read, I was hoping to get it up to
approximately 2200 MHz?

Any suggestions, pointers to links I've missed or other commentary much
appreciated!

Peter,

I'm running the same Combo as you do.

Make sure you have the latest Bios (1009-6 Beta did a lot of good for me)

Is your processor a 0.09 Winchester?

Get CPU-Z if you dont have it, it will tell you everything about your CPU:
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

If yes, you are in for a treat. This CPU is OC friendly. I've read people
running it at 2995mhz
I don't use the AI feature, I have set the stuff manually.

Voltage and Frequency
Do not touch what you don't know in there! Educate yourself first.

I run it at 240x10 (2400mhz), it is rock solid with default CPU voltage
(1.4v).

Me too I had Geil sticks, my machine wouldn't boot with them. Even with
default setup.
So I got rid of them.

Then I got myself some nice
OCZ PC3700 2.5-3-3-8 Dual Channel Gold Edition Rev.3 and now I'm in love.
I think I'm going to marry these sticks.
They get average ratings on P4 but impressive reviews on the AMD64. It looks
like they were made for AMD. Good bang for the buck too.

My OCZ's are rated at 2.8v and this is what I use for them.

On air, my CPU never goes above 45C. (Well ventilated and good heat sink)

I wish you luck and happy new OC year.

Bottom line (for me)
240X10 2400mhz (max 45C)
1.4v Default CPU voltage (so far so good for me)
2.8v Memory Voltage as prescribe by OCZ (Look in your manual)
1.6v AGP My Radeon x800 XT was no longer stable at 1.5v once the board
OCed

If you think you will be happy with 2200mhz (10% increase) then why do you
bother with OCing your machine? 10% is not something you will notice much.

Thanks very much Yaff. Sounds like my limitation is the RAM. I'm going to
try relaxing the timings and see what happens. If nothing good, then I guess
it's time for some PC 4000.

I changed the CAS to 3 (vs. the 2 default), and now am at 2.3 GHz with no
problems. I'm thinking some nice PC4000 would be appropriate.

Still running very cool with the retail HSF. 34C CPU, 23C Case as I type
this.

Very true. That was an initial goal. Having seen your results, I'll now try
for 2.4 GHz.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your information, Yaff.
Happy New Year!
