You don't need an AGP Pro card. Any AGP-card will do. Which price class?

It is important to consider the CPU you have. It is unnecessary to choose a
card that is more powerful than your CPU can handle. I think an ATI Radeon
9800Pro will give you lots of gaming hours still.A Geforce 4 Ti will be an
upgrade from your Radeon 8500 as well, but not that powerful. If you don't
use your machine for gaming, I would get a cheap card. All those card
mentioned can be bought used.
Your next PC will have PCI Express graphics, so it's not wise to buy a very
powerful AGP card thinking that you can reuse it later.

I couldn't get a 9800 pro easily so I've opted for a cheap 9600XT
