ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe --> supported FSB???

seeker

Hi Guys,

I just bought a new A7N8X-E Deluxe MB (Newegg). The print retail box
SAYS "FSB 400Mhz) and the printed Asus "Model Label" on the box edge
sys".... Ultra400+MCP". The Screened Info on the actual MB says" REV
1.01 in white ink letters"

So, I thought my MB was 400FSB capable....BUT, on the Asus website @
http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socketa/a7n8x-3-d/overview.htm

it states "Athalon XP/FSB400 Support:

"Starting from PCB version 2.0, The A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard
supports front side bus (FSB) 400.

So...Can anyone tell me what's going on here??? If my MB does NOT
really support FSB400...????

I also am curious as to the answer to this because I bought the same
board from NewEgg last week with the axact same revision number.
The Ultra400+MCP-T refers to the Nvidia chipset. I bought the XP3200+
400fsb CPU I hope it wasn't a waste...

hi

your referring to the A7N8X-deluxe which had version 1.06 and version 2
pcb's. the 1.06 required a flash of the bios to allow it to use a 400fsb but
the 2.0 had native support because it was based on the ultra 400.

ive got an A7N8X-E Deluxe and Im running a 3200+ at stock speed with a
400FSB.

you'll have no problems.

The -E has always supported 400 MHz FSB. The A7N8X Deluxe has officially
supported it since PCB rev. 1.06

Don't sweat it. It looks like the line about the PCB Rev. info was
probably carried over from the write-up for the older A7N8X Deluxe. A
check of the Global, UK and German web pages don't have this info in
their write-ups!! Besides, AFAIK they aren't making a Rev 2.0 in the -E
Deluxe board yet!

Are you sure that doesn't say something more like: "the A7N8X Deluxe
motherboard supports front side bus (FSB) 400"?

Pretty sure the 2.0 revision # refers to the prior A7N8X Deluxe version,
and not the -E, which is even newer.
