Assigning Tasks in Business Contact Manager

Is there a way to assign tasks to people in your contacts like you can in
Outlook? I can only see where you have to add user accounts to the system in
order to assign tasks and share other info. Perhaps I installed it wrong -
but I would love some assistance with this problem. The product is useless
to me without that feature -- The Project Tools are awesome - just need to
find a way to assign tasks etc without creating accounts for them on my
computer.
 
In BCM v3, it appears you can only "Assign To" users of the shared BCM
database.
