I am having this problem with Windows 95, but solution might be same
for 2000 (not much activity over at the 95 area!).
I am running Doom2 and not getting any sound. The program requires
that the soundcard have IRQ 2, 4 or 7. The problem is that my
soundcard (SB Live!) is automatically assigned IRQ3 and cannot be
changed manually to anything else (under Devices). By the way, I no
longer need my parallel port (typically assigned IRQ 4, I thought).
Is there any way (in Windows 95) to force an IRQ assigned on my sound
card so that I can get it to work under Doom2? I looked around on
other devices to see if I could free up 2,4, or 7 by assigning a free
IRQ, but couldn't, looks like the system is using them all up.
I have some legacy sound cards around that are not plug and play, can
IRQs be assigned via jumpers on those? I will probably have to go into
the BIOS and make sure it is setup for non PnP, right?
