in outlook 2003, we could assign a contact to an appointment. then, when
viewing contact info, you could find all appts that were assigned to that
contact. how can i assign a contact to a new appointment when i am creating
the appointment? office 2007 enterprise, not connecting to an exchange
server.

In Outlook 2007, the Contacts box for linking items to contacts does not appear by default. You will need to turn it on -- Tools | Options | Contact Options | Show Contact Linking on All Forms.

outlook 2003-I would love to know how to assign a contact to an appt then
find all appts that were assigned! Please tell me how...that's exactly what
I came on to find out!

Also, If I select a contact first, is there a way I can then make a new appt
and their name & phone number automatically fill in, so all I have to do is
enter the time and/or date?

Thanks a ton! DJ

Grouping a table view By Contact should show you all the appointments grouped by the contacts they are assigned to.

Your second task can be accomplished only by writing custom code.
