Assigning Category to a message or to a reply-Outlook 2007

I use the Category features extensively in Outllook to group messages based
on Getting Things Done (GTD) contexts, e.g., @waiting for. When I reply to a
message, I would like to add a category as can be done with tasks. Is there
a way to do this in an email message that one is replying to? I am also
using Vista Ultimate.

Thank you.

I would try making a rule - start from a blank rule and select "check
messages after sending"

You can make it categorise based on your criteria. For example if I send an
email to anyone @microsoft.com I can put it in the MVP Stuff category.

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!

That puts the category on the Sent Item, doesn't it? I had the impression
he wanted to put the category on the original item (which, afaik, can't be
done out of the box).

Thanks for the input. What I essentially want to do is assign a category
(such as @waiting for (and I have that as a group in Tasks) when replying to
a message. The reply message that I am sending would then show up in my sent
folder but more importantly a copy of the message would show up in my Tasks
folder and then under the "@Waiting for" group. I can do this for new task
and even new messages but not when replying to a message. Can this be done?
Here is the application: I get a question/problem from a subordinate. I then
reply, "please do such and such by n date." I would like to be able to
categories my reply to show up under @waiting for.

Thank you for any assistance you can give.

Try what I suggested and if it doesn't work, you can do it manually by right
clicking the email in the Sent items folder and set a Category for it.

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!
