Can I assign blank date (not NULL) to date field, if yes how?

Can I assign blank date (not NULL) to date field, if yes how?

No. A Date/Time value is a Double Float number, a count of days and
fractions of a day since midnight December 30, 1899. It can contain a
number (corresponding to a date between January 1 100AD and 11:59:59pm
December 31, 9999; or it can be NULL. But that's the only options.

What's wrong with NULL? it displays as blank!
