Assign Access Rights to Programs

Hi,

I have 2 accounts in my computer, Administrator and Guest Account. I would
like to assign some programs that could be used by Guest. For example, I
would allow Guest account to be able to use acrobat reader.

However, it comes out with an error stating that the Guest has no
administrative rights and need to contact the administrator. I tried
assigning permissions by adding a Everyone user group in the security tab of
the acrobat reader.exe file, folder, etc.

But still to no avail. Anyone knows how to solve this problem, please let me
know. Thanks!

You can use a free tool called filemon from SysInternals to see where access
is being denied when trying to run an application. You need to logon as
guest, start filemon using runas for the administrator account, and then
stop filemon from logging as soon as the application fails, then review
filemon's log for access denied entries which are easier to find if you
configure filter view to highlight access denied. If you find any such
entries then be sure to five guest account access to that file/folder and
try again to see if it works or not. --- Steve

Thanks for the link. Anyway, i found out why my guest account could not
access it. Because i didnt put the Guest user group in the access list, but i
thought that since i put everybody it really meant everybody.

Weird though ... Sometimes it works and sometimes not.

I know for at least network access anonymous/guest can be excluded form
everyone group and it sounds like it may also apply to local access with the
security option in Local Security Policy for network access: let everyone
permissions apply to anonymous users. Anyway glad you got it to work. --
