ASR full disk recovery??

If I use the WindowsXP Professional back up utility to
back up "all" data (system components, settings,
applicate code, user data, etc.) and then create an ASR
diskette, will using the ASR restore process and the
backed
up data to restore to a newly formatted hard drive
produce a clone of the orginal hard drive? The
documentation I have read indicates that an ASR restore
does not recover application code or user data, but I'm
hoping a subsequent restore from a backup of "all" data
will overcome this limitation and hence I will not need
to re-install drivers, applications, data, or any thing
else.
Thanks in advance for your comments/suggestions.

Rich, Thanks for the clarification. As you suggested, it
looks like I need to acquire some "real" disk recovery s/w.
