ASP Pages

Our network administrator set up a new server and when I published to the
new server, none of the Access database ASP pages will come up on the
Internet. The database ASP pages work great on the old server (which is
still being used) but between the two of us, we can't quite figure out why
it won't show up. Any ideas out there???

Hi Clyde,

Do you have a URL we can look at? If not, do you have the exact error
message?

First, make sure that it's a Windows Server. Some admin's focus only on the
server's themselves and don't know a lot of the things that can be done with
the web server. Now, since it's probably a Windows Server, see if it's a
Windows 2003 server. One of the nice things about Windows 2003 server is it
disables all non-essential technologies upon installation. That means that
the server admin has to enable additional technologies such as ASP. It's a
great security feature since it eliminates any item that isn't absolutely
necessary off the bat, but it can be annoying for an admin who hasn't read
about this feature. I don't have my Win 2003 box in front of me right now so
I can't ive the exact procedure, but it shouldnt' be too hard to find the
enable technologies functions from the admin tools.

Hope this helps,

I gave your message to the administrator, he says it's been enabled. The
old server was NT 4.0 and the new iw Win 2003. He thinks it's something
that has to do with the database connectivity.
http://minengineer/assessor/olympics/residential/addsearch.asp This is the
site where people can input addresses or names but the page can't connect at
all. Thanks for your help in this problem.

Using the name search, just type in any last name. But it comes up
empty. I'm using an MS Access database for my information. The old
server was NT 4.0 and the new server is Win2003.

Clyde,

That's not a URL that any of us will be able to get to. That URL uses a
Netbios machine name. Unless I am on your network, I cannot get to that
machine using that URL.
