ASP.NET and .NET Framework 2.0 issues

Hi,

I have Windows XP, SP2, and have Automatic Upgrades turned on. If you need
any additional information about my system, please let me know.

A few months ago, I downloaded and installed .NetFramework 2.0. Due to the
fact that it clashed with my video programs, I uninstalled it via Control
Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and I reverted back to v 1.0. Asp.Net State
Service, which is located in Services, is Started and on Automatic, which
causes me concern and the need for answers to a few questions:

1. Should Asp.Net State Service be turned off or put on Manuel since I no
longer have .NetFramework 2.0 or is it needed by v 1.0?

2. Are there any other Services that I should Stop or put on Manual since
I no longer have .NetFramework 2.0?

3. I still receive updates from Microsoft for v 2.0 even though I
uninstalled it. Who's misinformed as to the programs/services that are
running in my pc? Me or Microsoft?

4. Also, I just ran a Trend Micro Housecall and the results returned:

"(MS06-0933) Vulnerability in ASP.NET Could Allow Information Disclosure"

I checked out the info at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS06-033.mspx but it didn't
specifically address my questions.

I'd appreciate advice regarding these question and clarification of these
issues. They "whys" of the matter don't interest me. I only want only
step-by-step instructions.

Please don't give me a URL to read about Asp.net, .NET Framework 2.0 or
updates. They're not written in laymen terms and when I finish reading any
and all those pages, my question is always "huh?"

When I go to the page where Microsoft checks to see if I need any updates,
it tells me that I have all the required updates. I've run a host of
anti-virus/malware/worm/trojan/grayware programs and they've all returned no
negative results, not even a cookie since I use CCleaner often.

I hope you can help me resolve the asp.net and .NetFramework 2.0 issues.

There are four .NET Frameworks (with updates).

Opening Explorer - Under \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework I have the
following:
\v1.0.3705
\v1.1.4322
\v2.0.50727
\v3.0

As far as I know all four should be installed because they may be required
by numerous other programs. (Think of them as being similar to Visual Basic
runtimes which came for VB1, VB2, VB3, etc up to Visual Basic 6.)

Thanks for responding Jerry, but your answer didn't address my questions.

I have (I checked to make sure this time) .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET
Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903). .NET Framework 2.0 is not in Add/Remove
Programs because I uninstalled it.

I'm still getting updates from Microsoft for .NET Framework 2.0 but I don't
have 2.0 running.

I have Asp.Net State Service in Services and it's Started and Automatic.
Should I Stop Asp.Net State Service, place it on Manual, or leave it alone?

Do I need to place ASP.NET

Sorry, I didn't finish my previous response.

In \Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework I have v1.0.3705, v1.1.4322 and
v2.0.50727. I don't have v3.0. Due to the fact that I uninstalled v 2.0,
another question arises. Why is there a v2.0.50727 folder in
Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework?

Prior to downloading and installing v 2.0, my pc ran fine. I had no video
problems and, by video, I mean watching a DVD by using my ROM drive, viewing
family photographcs that I have stored in my pc, or opening an animated
attachment that I received in an email. I don't "create great .NET Framework
applications for Windows." I've never used Visual Basic, Access, Excel or
any type of program that creates something.

..NET Framework 2.0 caused such havoc with my video use that I was going to
uninstall and reinstall Windows because I had many problems with my pc even
after uninstalling it. What I want to do is to remove every trace of .NET
Framework 2.0 in my pc except for files that my pc needs. I don't know what
files have remained in my pc after uninstalling v 2.0 but I do know that they
are in conflict with other programs in my pc because my pc hasn't run
properly since the day I installed and uninstalled .NET Framework 2.0. It
could be a coincidence of galactic proportions, but I don't think so.

If ASP.NET is associated only with v 2.0, do I need it? Can I uninstall
it/turn it off/set it to manual?
