Asks to saves no changes

Wes

I have Word 2000 from Office 2000 and everytime I open a
document, even a new blank document and then close it
without making any changes I am asked if I want to save
the changes, but I haven't made any. This is for all
documents, every one.

It used to close just fine when I only viewed a document,
but now it asks to save on everything. I think it has
something to do with an update, SP-1a or maybe SP3. I
think I remember it starting after an update download.

Thanks for help!

Thanks, but do you have any ideas about Word 2000? I can't
locate Smart Tags in Word 2000. They must be in Word 2002.

Thanks,

Wes

Ah, sorry, I missed the version. No, Smart Tags were introduced in Word
2002. In most cases the culprit for existing documents in earlier versions
is fields updating. If you look at the Undo list (click the down arrow
beside the Undo button on the Standard toolbar), you'll probably see Update
Fields; if that's the only "change" that has been made, you can safely
ignore it. If this is happening with new blank documents, though, I would
suspect an add-in.
