As Excel loads, it displays at the very bottom of the screen
as they are loaded, a list of addins (amongst other) that have
been programmed to load at start up.

In the case of an addin, the name displayed is the full addin
name. Can this be suppressed in Excel 97 and / or 2000
please?

Regards.

I would suspect this would depend on whether the user has the status bar
displayed or not.

If you meant using code, this would happen long before any code was
executed.

Many thanks.

Therefore can Excel be opened via a batch file (on the user's
machine) and if so, what control is possible, please?

Regards.
