Article: Vista Not So Bad

Not Me

I read articles like that about the Yugo too...and some people still drive
them...
The '73 chevette got 30 MPG, want one?

Good, calm article on Windows.

I've found XP and Vista to be as stable as any other OS. The big
contributors to unstable OS are (not necessarily listed in rank of
responsibility):
1) Faulty software including lack of decent removal tools.
2) Faulty hardware
3) Poorly installed software
4) User fooling around with system files and inflicting damage to OS
5) Bugs n the early versions of the OS. (Actually bugs in any OS will always
exist.)

Thanks for the link.

So, I'm #4. Most of my problems with Vista are because of that very thing!
:) The other minor ones are from older software and bad drivers. All very
understandable. It's great that Vista is this good with THAT much code
involved.

There was no '73 Chevette. The first model year was 1976.

I owned one, and I wouldn't say I'd never buy another. The one I had, after
driving it for 3 years became a project vehicle that not got finished
because I knocked up the wife.

It would have been sweet though. It was a four-wheel drive conversion, and
the body was stripped of all suspension components and was mounted on a
Jeep CJ7 frame. I was just starting to modify the engine compartment to
accept a small block Chevy motor I had, and then...well.......fatherhood.

So if I was to own another, it would be to actually complete the same
project. Chevettes are rather hard to come by now. Just like Vega's, I had
3 of those, and Monza's, only one.

Inbreeding is breeding between close relatives, whether plant or animal. It
was found that DanS of the vista.general forum practiced this sick kind of
behavior.

If practiced repeatedly, it leads to an increase in homozygosity of a
population. A higher frequency of recessive, deleterious traits in
homozygous form in a population can, over time, result in inbreeding
depression. This may occur when inbred individuals exhibit reduced health
and fitness and lower levels of fertility.

Livestock breeders often practice inbreeding to "fix" desirable
characteristics within a population. However, they must then cull unfit
offspring, especially when trying to establish the new and desirable trait
in their stock.

In plant breeding, inbred lines are used as stocks for the creation of
hybrid lines to make use of the heterosis effect. Inbreeding in plants also
occurs naturally in the form of self-pollination.

A number of years ago, Inbreeding was brought to the attention of
authorities because of DanS. He frequented the Southern States of Alabama
and Mississippi. Authorities were horrified at his actions.

I never realised that they sold Chevettes in the US as well. GM also made
them here in the UK.

GM used the Monza name in Europe as well, but for a different car.

GM had the guts to export Chevettes technology. My sister had one of
those things. That tin can lasted until it was paid off.

I enjoyed this balanced article.
http://gizmodo.com/5019908/ten-reasons-why-vista-isnt-that-bad

It highlights many of Vista's strengths, while being honest about some of
its weaker points.

I wanted to share it with you.

Thanks, Donny - I've been a non-techie computer user since about DOS 3.11;
talk about an ugly OS! Having come from Commodore systems that had 'smart'
drives that didn't need to be told what to do by the user, it was a
retrograde step as far as I was concerned, but that's what was in use at the
office. ;) So I was sure glad when the GUI came in, so that at least it
looked friendlier. I'm one of those rare birds that has enjoyed going from
XP to Vista, so the article made sense to me. Yep, I can see the faults, but
there's not been an OS yet that hasn't had them. Not *any* OS.

Others like to play soccer, billiards, collect stamps, watch birds... I

You have got some serious mental issues, and you being placed in an
asylum is mandatory, Windex. You can lick the window panes clean, and
you can change your linen there or have someone change it for you too,
with your orderly Mr. Clean. You can grin, have laughs and fun with him
while he takes your pictures.

Who can believe you anymore based on the mis-information you seem to
hand out?

No one should trust anything you have to say as far as he or she can
pick-up a building and throw it somewhere.

No need. All one has to do is foolishly buy Vista and install it and my
words will ring true.

What are you afraid of? I know that Microsoft is scared shitless of Linux.

I never realised that they sold Chevettes in the US as well. GM also
made them here in the UK.

I'd like to add that I never knew that GM made some car models that
weren't sold in the USA.

And the UK version had the driver on the right side of the vehicle as
well I'd have to assume. Right-hand drive vehicles are pretty cool.

I had a RHD postal jeep that I drove for four years. It started out as
'normal' postal, but that got a make-over as well, with a 400 Small Block
Chevy, 3" lift kit, 30" tires, dual-exhaust, custom interior with Camaro
bucket seats, full gauge set, and a killer Bose sound system. And of
course, it ended up being painted flat black. I really wish I would have
taken pictures of all my projects.

On that page, the column to the right, the top B & W Chevette photo
actually looks kind of sweet, with the fender flairs and all. The specs
there say it came with a 2.3L engine at one point. That's huge for this
car. That was never offered here, although Hooker (as in Hooker Headers)
made a motormount/header kit to shoehorn a Buick 3.8L V6 into a Chevette.
That was the original plan for mine until I got bit by the 4-wheel drive
bug.

chevettes.com seems to have galleries of all the different worldwide
versions. The station-wagon version looks a lot like a Vega Wagon.

HOLY CR*P !!!!!! They've got a page with 4x4 conversion pics.....sweet
!!!

what kind of disinformation are you talking about.

Windex? Windex? Windex? Alias knows what it said Windex, which was
wrong, Windex.
The only disinformation I can see is your type of stupid blind fanboy hype.

Windex? Windex? Windex? And you are an anti-something. Now, go on and
clean some glass somewhere.
