I know this is not an excel problem but someone here has always been able to
solve my excel ones so here goes

Although use NOD anti virus have message keep popping up on window saying
worm.win32.netsky virus on computer

click ok to remove it then opens window to buy some anti ad/spy software.

If i run my existing spyware it does not find anything nor does full scan
with NOD yet webpage readdressed etc

Can anyone tell me how to solve without giving in and buying there software

Here's what I suggest. First, get a copy of HiJackThis - source page for it
is at
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php

Running it may be solution enough - it's pretty good at removing many
'standard' malware programs. But even if it doesn't cure things, it provides
a good report that you can provide to others to assist further.

One of the best places I know to get help is in the "Security Cleanup" forum
at DSLReports.com http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cleanup Before posting
there, you'll want to read their rules for that forum:
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,15487251

You don't have to create an account to post at the site, although accounts
are free and do help with communication at the site. You'll not end up on
any spam lists from joining either. There are at least 4 or 5 MSFT MVPs in
the Security area that pretty much call that forum 'home', along with MVP
quality members of the site itself (you'll see them as MVM [Much Valued
Members]).

Tell them that '2kmaro' sent you ... I've been helping moderate that site
for close to 7 yrs now and for help like this, and in many other arenas, it's
just hard to beat. Good luck getting the system cleaned up.

I see you did get help from the folks at DSLReports. Calamity Jane is an
MSFT MVP in Security, and TheJoker one of the site's MVM's. Told you they
are good <g>

I see that you're using NOD as your anti-virus application - a good one.
Quite possibly one of the two best. I use NOD32 on my Vista system and I use
Kaspersky on my other 3 systems, and have Kaspersky Business Optimal set up
protecting the company LAN/server/workstations at the office. No reason for
you to abandon NOD - just keep it updated. My personal opinion? You're much
better protected with either NOD or Kaspersky than with any of the 'top 3'
selling/installed AV programs on the market: too many virus/worm/malware
creators targeting those specifically to slip on by them.

i have been having the same problem. i updated my norton subscription as
soon as the problem hit (too little too late unfortunately). I'm looking
forward to trying the below steps to see if it helps.
One question, is the "NOD" software you referred to "Norton"? If not, do
you feel the Norton is money poorly spent?

As background, I'm a neophyte internet user. only items I spend time on is
email, and the occasional yahoo search... (this is the first post I've ever
done if you can believe that...)

THANKS

The NOD/NOD32 I referenced is not Norton Anti-Virus (which many refer to as
NAV). I was referring to Eset's NOD32 ( http://www.eset.com/ ). As I said I
use NOD32 on a Vista system I have - since at the time I set it up, Kaspersky
was not ready with a working version for Vista. Norton Anti-Virus is, in
fact, one of those very attacked and targeted "top 3" sellers. I believe
you'll find that the top-3 sellers/installed by count are the Symantec/Norton
product, McAffee Anti Virus and Computer Associates (CA) eTrust Anti-Virus.
Those 3 hold well over 95% of the market, with all the rest sharing the
remaining very small piece of pie. And it's that 95+% number makes them such
tempting targets to those who can tailor their malware to slip by known
anti-virus programs and remain hidden from them.

If you're going to pay money for an anti-virus tool, I recommend either the
products from Kaspersky Labs (in Russia - founded by ex-KGB agent according
to urban legend), or Eset's product.

Good free ones that I recommend to those without the funds to afford the
very best, I recommend Alwill's Avast! and/or Grisoft's AVG.
