In Outlook, when I send a reply, the tiny arrow does not appear all the
time.. just some of the time.. so I have to look at my sent times to see if I
sent a message. How do I make the arrow always show when I reply to a
message? Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the mouse pointer?
What version of Outlook are you using?
Are you using Word or Outlook as the e-mail editor?

Microsoft Word comes up as the email editor. Microsoft Outlook 2003 is the
email format that I receive and send the emails through.

But you mean the mouse pointer, right?
Do you get the same results when using Word?

Oh Good Grief! Do you even work with Outlook? I would have been better off
just researching my own question through Outlook instead of asking this
forum!!! Do you even ever use Outlook to send mail?

When a person received an email through Outlook and then they "reply" to the
email using Outlook, this little arrow shows up on the initially received
email that designates the email has already been responded to.

I am definitely NOT impressed by your lack of knowledge Roady! Any road
scholar who uses Outlook would have understand my initial question without
all your skating round the issues!

Oooh, we are so impressed with YOUR knowledge of Outlook.

What is the problem with his answer that you did not bother to respond to? Jumping down someone's throat who is VOLUNTEERING time to assist users does not engender helpful responses, as you might take mine to be.

Next time you want an answer, I suggest a better attitude.

FINALLY! You explained enough about what "little arrow" means to you that
someone can understand. Next time, do that it your initial post.

The question has been asked before and, unfortunately, there doesn't seem to
be any good explanations as to why this happens in some cases. The
"replied" icon is cosmetic anyway. Since you're using Outlook 2003, the
Infobar will tell you when you replied.

That's "Rhodes Scholar". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhodes_scholar

I am having the same issue. Were you able to find a resolution? Based on
the replies there didn't seem to have any answer for the problem.

Regards,

Based on the original post there is little to provide an answer to as the OP
only posted an issue without supplying any configuration details.
The behavior would be normal for a classic Hotmail connection via HTTP or
when a custom form is used.

I understood her post perfectly as I am having the same problem. I upgraded
from Outlook 2003 to Office professional 2007. I am not able to get the
relied to icon on any of my emails. I don't know what configuaration to use
to get what I need. I have seen this thread posted throughout the community
with no answer. In OL 2003 using the same exact email setup, I woul get
either the envelope with the purple arrow pointing left to show I replied or
the envelope with the little blue arrow showing that i forwarded it. Now I
get nothing. I have no idea if I have replied or not and have to keep going
to the "Sent" box to see. With over 200 emails a day it is time consuming.
I still use OL 2003 on my desktop at home and do not have this issue. It
only occurs when I am using OL 2007.

What type of account, Hotmail, POP, or IMAP?

I have a hotmail account. I can see where you are taking this, however,
Outlook 2003 has the reply and forward icon using the same exact setup as I
have on my OL 2007. Why is there a difference. In in hotmail, I get the
replied to Icon. The only place it does not appear is in OL 2007. Seems
like this is a very useful feature that needs to be put back into the program.

Laurie

"Exact same setup"? Are you using exactly the same version of the Outlook
Connector on each? Do you have the Hotmail folders set as your delivery
location on each?

I am having a similar problem with Outlook 2007. However, until a few days
ago, when I replied to a message in Outlook the 'replied arrow' icon would
appear. Now, not only does it not appear when I reply to a message, but all
of the previous 'replied' icons have disappeared. The icons do appear when I
log directly into my Hotmail account. My outlook account is MAPI.

TIA for any help/suggestions.

Attributes you see online and those you see in Hotmail folders displaying in
Outlook are completely unrelated.

How have you defined your Hotmail account in Outlook? Are you using the
Hotmail Connector? Is the Hotmail data store set to be your delivery
location?
