arrows on maps

Hi

I have to give a PPT presentation that includes maps that show how
populations moved from a certain locality to disperse to a group of other
locations. These maps already have the arrows printed on them, but I
thought it would be nice if I could instead show a group of arrows expanding
and "moving" to the new locations to illustrate the population movements.
Can this be done in PP 2002?

Additional problem: the new locations are at different distances from the
starting point, so the simultaneously expanding "arrows" would have to be of
different sizes. Sort of like a slow moving fireworks expanding from one
area.

Can it be done?

Thanks.

Hi Jeff

With enough time and effort this could certainly be done using motion paths
and the expand emphasis effect (that's how I would tackle it anyway). I
would suggest the place to start is the 3 animation courses on the MS Office
website (don't worry they won't really take 50 minutes) and then just play
with it :-)
