Arranging Icons

Greetings,

I'm running XP SP2, but this is only partially an XP-specific question.

When I select "Arrange Icons by Name" on the Desktop, I'd like it to
actually do that literally, and not arrange the icons by name, *except*
for Recycle Bin, Internet Explorer, Firefox and other browers, which it
always places in the top left, ahead of all the other icons.

Further, I'd like this to be reflected on the Taskbar's Desktop Toolbar,
which also seems to insist on leaving My Documents, My Computer, and My
Network Places on the Toolbar, even if I've unchecked them in my Desktop
Customization.

Is there one or more reg hacks that will fix this?

Hi Fester,

This is not possible afaik. Because the sort order for namespace items (such
as Recycle Bin, Internet Explorer, and other icons) are maintained in the
registry. Then the files are sorted A->Z (for files in
%userprofile%\desktop) and another A->Z listing for the files in
%allusersprofile%\desktop.
