Arranged by From (not working first time)

I select a message in my inbox and choose to 'Arrange by From" --- for some
reason the first time I do this, it seems, after opening Outlook 2007 - it
sorts by the From field, but ALWAYS seems to lose track of what I had
selected.

I then resort by date, search for the message i originally had selected,
select it and then sort by From again - and it works. preserving the view
of the message and all other messages from that same person?

What up? Am I alone here too?

Arrange by From is not for a single email. You are telling Outlook to arrange
all your emails by the From field in the Inbox. This is not a usual selection
since it will group all mail from the same sender, not necessarily in the
order you want. Why don't you sort by Date instead and use rules to group
mail from the senders you choose IN A DIFF folder? To see what I mean, go to
your Deleted Items folder and choose Arrange by From. Reset by choosing
Arrange by Date. you should not be using your Inbox (a dynamic folder) for
long term storage. Set up subfolders or other folders to store your mail.

I want to sort my inbox, temporarily, by the From field to find all messages
sent to me by a given email address.

I should be able to select a given message from say, (e-mail address removed), then
Arrange by From. This will group all messages by who sent them; AND, it
retains the currently selected message in the view. Unfortunately though,
the very first time I do this, it sorts properly -but- it doesn't retain the
selected message. If I sort it back to date order, and do the same thing
again, it works properly (retaining the message after the Arrange by From).
