Where can I find Arial Alternative? I recently reformatted my hard drive.
Loaded XP Pro and Office 2003. The font Arial Alternative is no longer
available. I used this font exclusively when building my website and would
like to continue to use it, or another font that is exactly the same.
Thank You to all!!!

Dear Murray, Thanks, but arial alternative is real and views globally over
the web.
Thanks.
Steve

A font is only viewable if the PC viewing the site has the font installed.

That is what Murray meant about not being a websafe font, since it is not a commonly installed font.

I have over 650 TTF fonts, and Arial Alternative is not one of them.

Yep - Thomas has the right interpretation. But I think you should use it
anyhow. 8)

Arial Alternative was a Windows ME only font. That is the only place it ever
existed.

Nope. I have NEVER had Windows ME and it's on my system. I'm not sure
what application installed it but it's there on XP now.

It may have come with some other app that was ME compatible, but regardless,
it is a VERY uncommon font, installed on only 14 of 650 Windows PC's tested,
and on no Mac or Unix systems, whereas Verdana and Georgia are on nearly all
mac and pc systems.

So either way, it is defniately NOT anything near a websafe font.

And this note also from MS:

"supplied by Microsoft especially for use with HyperTerminal. / It is
located in the \OTHER\MINITEL folder on the Win95 CD..."

It is a fixed width font, designed specifically for use with the Minitel
terminals as an alternative to the standard fixed-width Courier. Fixed width
fonts generally look pretty horrible on web pages.
