A end user at my company is unable to open her archive
folders anymore. The error "unable to expand the folder.
The set of folders could not be opened. The file
u:\archive.pst is in use and could not be accessed. Close
any application that is using the file and then try again."

The archive.pst is on the server. I can not even get into
the properties of the folder to set permissions. There is
not another application open. The archive folder is
pointing to the correct file on the client.

The archive.pst file is 1.64 GB in size could this be the
issue?

We are exchange server 5.5 and outlook 2000 client.

Size could be a factor, as the maximum size for a .PST file in Outlook 2002
and earlier is 2GB, and problems start cropping up anywhere in the 1GB or
higher range. She might try running the Inbox Repair Tool against the file
to see if it helps her to at least open it and move some of the data out of
it and into a new file. If that doesn't help, she may have to use the crop
tool to take a chunk out of the middle of the file. See the following page
