For some reason I have 4 archive folders in my folder list. I don't want to
archive my emails at all but can't seem to get rid of the folders. When I
right click on them to close the folder, I get the message "The operation
failed. An object can't be found." How can I get rid of them? I have
administrator rights and use XP professional.

With Outlook closed, go to Control Panel-Mail-Data Files and remove them
there.

That has removed one of them but I'm still left with three more which don't
seem to show up in mail data files. Any other clues?

In case it's any help to anyone else, I have now discovered that my email
profile was corrupt. I have created a new profile and imported my emails;
all is now well.

You're lucky you didn't corrupt the profile again. NEVER use export and
import to transfer data from Outlook to Outlook. Just reuse the existing
PST.

It was a Support Technician from Microsoft itself who told me to do it Brian,
so I felt I was on pretty safe ground.

Some of them work from a script. They're not always correct.
