Archive bit in email messages?

I've noticed that after an archive of email is made in outlook, then a mail from that archive is dragged back into a mail folder that that mail is never archived again.

Is there a flag or bit that is set on an email message that prevents it from being re-archived? Is there a way to un-flag that bit for mails?.

The Archive option moves mails, based on Modified Date, to a seperate pst
file
There is no flag set on the msg.
You can archive an Archive data file

Interesting. Then perhaps what is happening is that when a message is archived, it is touched (modified). Bringing it back into the system and attempting to archive it again fails because using a date of "modify everything older than today" is false because the file was archived today and therefore modified today?

BTW, I can confirm that this happens....I archived a folder, brought it back in and copied the messages back to their original folder. Any attempt to re-archive creates an archive with empty folders and no messages.

When a message is moved, whether from an archive folder or a normal folder,
the LastModificationTime date/time property is updated. Until the item is
aged to your archive specification it won't get archived again.
