Aquarium screensaver will not allow ACPI to function properly

My Marine Aquarium screensaver will not allow ACPI to turn my monitor off. I
have set the options in both the screensaver and ACPI to the correct
settings, but it still refuses to work. I need some suggestions, please.

This Screen Saver could be spyware, virus or could even be a trojan.
However. Look for the aquarium Screensaver.
Copy *.scr to another location.
Uninstall The aquarium screen saver.
Now run spyware & adaware to clean out the registry.
Now copy *.scr back to windows\system32

You can then turn it on
in control pannel-Display-Screen Saver tab.

This tip may violate the eula. However, I don’t consider a eula
valid if contains virus or a Trojan or even spyware.

Ooooooh!!! So MANY answers!

First - welcome to the world of volunteers and web newsgroups.

Second - be a little more patient and a lot less sarcastic - if you had left
it alone you would be more likely to get an answer instead of this. You
didn't even wait 12 hours.

Third - just how is this a Microsoft issue? You have a third party screen
saver (Sach's Aquarium I am assuming - notice - I have to assume as you did
not tell us) installed on an unknown system. Perhaps if you gathered a
little information and shared it - you might get more of a response.

Make sure your motherboard BIOS is flashed to the latest version. Make sure
your video card driver is the latest from the manufacturer (not the
windowsupdate.microsoft.com web page.) Make sure you have the latest
version of whatever screensaver it is you are using and having the trouble
with. Make sure you have the latest version of directx installed and
patched. Make sure your sound card drive is the latest version from the
manufacturer as well. Insure that you have all critical updates for your
Windows XP system (home or pro?)

I was going to assist you, but with your attitude why should I bother? This
isn't MS this is a peer-to-peer international newsgroup. People here have
lives outside of Usenet, and there are 24 timezones. I'm awake now (it's
14:21 here) but my friend Cari in Las Vegas is in bed (it's 2:21 in the
morning there). You're going to have to learn some patience. You've waited 7
hours and 48 minutes between your first post and your rather rude and
sarcastic second post.

This won't endear you to many and won't have your posts answered (you'll
most likely end up in everyone's bozo-bin).

LOL, You can't even get time zones correct, though you go after others that have their PC clicks set wrong , BWhahahahahahahaha! You either are under BST, or GMT (don't if where you live makes seasonal time changes), which would make you at most 8 hours ahead of the time in Vegas. According to you, you are 12 hours ahead, LMMFAO! Which technically would put you in a timezone from cnetral Siberia, down to central Australia! When it was 14:21 there it , it was 6:21 in Las Vegas, you gormless bint!

LOL, I bet you're endeared to those who can't tell time also, LMAO!

If you WERE going to assist me, then why didn't you? You sure didn't waste
any time pointing out my downfalls.

Now, if I may be so polite to ask. Would someone like to assist me in this?
I will wait as long as it takes or at least until I uninstall this
screensaver, sell my computer, or buy an abacus.

If you WERE going to assist me, then please do. I am patiently waiting.

I don't think it is any sort of virus or spyware. I bought it at Office
Depot, I didn't download it from the net. I think it has something to do
with an outdated version of DirectX, but I am not sure. I have it on another
machine, and it works, but even when the monitor goes off, the stupid
bubbles still bubble. Sounds more like a Dexter's Laboratory than an
aquarium. Either that or a pot of green beans boiling.

I haven't seen the past post so please bear with me. ACPI will not control
the audio setting. The monitor my be configured to sleep, but the sound will
still be processing. Let me know if I missed something

I didn't think so. Probably didn't know anyway. Sometimes one is fortunate
enough to spare oneself the embarrassment of their incompetence. It was just
an oportunity to point out that he/she/it didn't like my sarcasm.
