I only downloaded aquamark this evening, I didn't know that you can cheat
it.

MikeE

Okay at an oc of 200fsb and 200 memory and running at 2.2ghz with 3.7 cats
and running gfx card at 385mhz core and 338 mem I still only get 41212
So I think somethign isn't quite right, this cannot possibly be....Anyone
else noticed such discrepancies? Is this yet another benchmark we can't
trust?

Your system seems slow as i get fully 2,000 more points than you.
A7n8X deluxe , 512 Mb Kingston HyperX 9700 AIW XP2500 @11x200

I get around 39,000 with no overclocking on the vid card.

NICE!

Your about 1500 points higher then my overclocked 9700 Pro but my CPU makes
up for allot!
Your overclocked 9800 Pro on a P4c would be amazing!!

Great Score. Now go play some games :)

How about this with FSAA-2X and AF-4X
AquaMark Score: 37686
CPU Score: 10397
GFX Score: 4602
Average Frame Rate: 37.6

And this with FSAA-4Xand AF-4X
AquaMark Score: 35617
CPU Score: 10409
GFX Score: 4296
Average Frame Rate: 35.6

At FSAA-2X and AF-4X I was getting lots of display corruption with the new
Cat. 3.7 drivers but with FSAA-4X and AF-4X all display corruption went
away! Weird.

This 9700 Pro is very powerfull at FSAA and AF, I'm very happy with it.

Know what? Me and Kirby have Bartons, while methylenedioxy has a Tbird...

Also, I would wonder what what type of ram methylenedioxy has...

Maybe the extra L2 cache and tighter ram timings make the difference...

Hello Ben,

Leaving the options in AM3 set at default ( I don't think they work in the
free version anyways), I ran three benchmarks and only altered the FSAA and
AF settings in Display Properties. I found that you must exit and restart
the application every time you make a change in the drivers settings for
Direct-X.

Radeon 9700 Pro at 371/344, Cat 3.7 (WinXP)
Driver Settings at Highest Performance:
AM3 settings at Default (V.High Quality, 1024 X 768)

FSAA-0x, AF-0x
AquaMark Score: 45640
CPU Score: 10375
GFX Score: 5847
Average Frame Rate: 45.6

FSAA-0x, AF-4x
AquaMark Score: 43184
CPU Score: 10379
GFX Score: 5541
Average Frame Rate: 43.1

FSAA-4x, AF-4x
AquaMark Score: 37079
CPU Score: 10421
GFX Score: 4509
Average Frame Rate: 37.0

Although AM3 states FSAA-Off and AF-4X, its apparently wrong. The Display
driver settings worked as expected.

Indeed. It's a shame, and has been mentioned on the AM3 forums. I think it
would be nice if they could determine the actual settings, although I
realise that there will always somebody who tries that little bit harder to
cheat.

Yea, and my dad's bigger than all your dad's, so there <g>

LOL :)

When you spend so much time tuning yr machine, it's fun to fence with the
performance indexes ;-)

I like to play with the machines, though my P4 is running at it's maximum
stable config.

So i jumped to an old project i had lying around; a Compaq Professional
Workstation 6000 :) Didnt work before, but found someone ditching his
workstation. Exchanged processor cage, works perfect :) Can even use my old
CPU on the thing, so i have a dual processor machine (P2-300) with 256 MB
memory for only 50 dollars total, hahaha...

But to get it booting without a bootable cdrom drive... terrible work :)

Thomas.

somthing to look at if your runing a barton. the extra cash is not beeing
used in win xp you need to do this tweek to use the full cash in windows

Check your level 2 cache
XP assumes you always have 256 kb L2 cache. If your running a Barton etc,
you have to change this. GO to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current-ControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Memory
Management. Find the DWORD entry: SecondLevelDataCache. If entering it as
hexadecimal 256KB = 100 and 512KB = 200 in hexadecimal, and so on

just back up your regestery befor messign with it.
i forget where i found this but it was in nforce forums so if you try it and
it works for you thank them not me

It's "cache" not cash, as in the paper stuff you an exhange for more useful
items.

And Windows does NOT need to know about it to make use of it.

Incorrect, it checks for the amount of cache.

And before bothering, read this to find out that it's nonsense:
