Appropriate Permission

This week I had a hardware problem that required me to rebuild me opperating
system. Daily... I run Outlook backups, but before I rebuilt, I also
performed an export if each folder, including Calendar and Contacts to a
unique pst [example: Calendar.pst] located on a seperate drive.

After the system restore, I was able to retrieve all folders from the daily
backup with he exception of Calendar and Contacts , whick were not included.
I attempted to restore them directly from the individual pst backups, and
receive the error:

"You do not have the appropriate permission to perform this opperation" Any
idea's?

I am running Windows XP and Outlook 2007, with all fixes applied.

Any help will be greatly appriciated.

How did you create the original backup? By copying your pst-file? Then all
the data is in there.
How did you restore? By reconnecting the pst-file or by importing it?
When reconnecting; all your data is available again directly; import
shouldn't be used for this.

Anyway, where is your calendar.pst file stored now? Make sure it is on a
read/write location (so no CD or write protected directory or anything
similar).
Then use Fle-> Open-> Outlook Data File... to connect to it.

To create the backups, I did the steps listed in the link you sent in the
section: Export pst-file/Let’s say you only want to export your Inbox and
your Contacts folder; and stored them on a separate drive and them backed up
that drive to an external hard drive [a bit of over kill but gives me a good
feeling before restoring an operating system]. I did this for every folder.
A separate PST was created and stored.
To restore, I first copied the folders from my daily backup of my personal
folders which did not include the Calendar or Contacts folder, but I do have
the separate PST files for each of these.
When I attempt to open the PST folder [d:\pst] I receive the message “You do
not have the appropriate permission to perform this operationâ€.

So I did you instructions “Then use File-> Open-> Outlook Data File... to
connect to it†and I now have a new Personal folder with the calendar that
contains 2 calendars in personal folders and 1 Calendar. 1 of the calendars
in personal folders is empty, one contains my schedule. The same holds true
for my contacts.

Where do I copy the valid data to and then how do I detach the Personal
Folders

Change your Calendar to the view All Appointments via the View menu.
Now you can easily select them all and copy them back to your main calendar.

Note that the steps pointed out in the guide are meant for when you only
want to backup a single folder. In your case, you wanted to backup
everything. You really shouldn't use the Import/Export method then but make
a copy of the original pst-file and restore that. Detailed instructions are
also in the guide.
