Appointments clearing form Outlook calender

I have lots of recurring appointments in my Outlook calender some with no end
date and occassionally when I open the calender they are all gone and all
dates are free, very annoying as it only happens every few months but I
cannot depend on it and have checked my setup etc and all seems OK
