"Applying Personal Setting" takes 1.5 mins or more when
logging in to our Win Server 2003. I understand
Microsoft has a fix for this problem. Can anyone out
there send it to me?
Thanks,
Kirk

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329457 mentions this
problem when you have complex policies - does that describe your setup? If
so, you can call PSS and give them the article number in order to get the
hotfix - that is the only way you should ever get hotfixes.

Also, have you looked at the NIC settings to make sure nobody is using
autosense (all computers, servers, locked down at a specific speed/duplex
setting)? Are you using roaming profiles, and if so, how big are they?

It now takes less than 10 sec to complete "Applying Personal Setting". I was using a logon script to map network drives. One instance was trying unsuccessfully to map a very long folder name to a drive letter. I shorten that name to three chars which solved that mapping problem and seem to help time situation considerably
Thanks for your input
Kirk
