Applying Computer Settings Hangup - Windows XP SP2

Hi,

I have two XP SP2 machines on a MS Business Server 2003 domain who are
having a slow boot time.

During the “Applying computer settingsâ€, the computers stall for about 6-7
minutes and on the event log the following information is logged after that
time:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: SceCli
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1704
Date: 1/14/2008
Time: 6:59:35 AM
User: N/A
Computer: GENERALMANAGER
Description:
Security policy in the Group policy objects has been applied successfully.

The PC’s have static IP Addresses and the DNS information is correct for
both PC’s.

As it is just 2 users on the domain having these issues, I tried a local
gpupdate.exe/force, but this did not correct the problem. I also disabled
the Network Location Awareness (NLA) service, which also did not work. Both
PC’s boot at normal rates in Safe Mode.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Thanks, Mark.

However, after running the SubInACL tool, this did not solve the "Applying
Computer Settings" dilemma.

The previous error message is no longer logged at bootup, but now it gets
hung up on the following issue in the System event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7022
Date: 1/15/2008
Time: 2:59:13 PM
User: N/A
Computer: GENERALMANAGER
Description:
The Kivera Location Engine 4.6.2 service hung on starting.

Actually, it was a program called Fleet Director, that had been upgraded.
Thanks for getting me off thinking about the GPO on AD and onto applications
and the registry!
