apply a password to a document

hello, i'm using Office 2003 (latest updates), and i would like to know if
there's a way to apply a password to a word file (.doc) so when i'll open
it, i'll be first prompt to put in the password. if it's possible, can the
password be in another language (such as hebrew?) will i be able to open this
file in other versions of office?

Hi Tom-

In order of appearance:

1- Yes, with the file open go to Tools>Options>Security to find what you need,
2- I'm not sure, but even if you can you need to input the password from the
keyboard which would require the foreign language character set to be
available and in view of your 3rd point I would recommend against it,
3- Yes
