Applications won't open

We have a family computer running Windows XP that has a different profile for
each user. On my son's screen, none of his applications will open. The last
thing he remembers doing was adjusting the security settings. Anyway, when
you double-click an icon, the hourglass comes up for a second, but nothing
will actually open. If you right-click and choose "open as", and then remove
the check mark from "Protect my computer and data..." then the application
will open.

I have tried going into the Security Center in the control panel, but it
won't open and it doesn't offer the "open as" option.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this post. Won't the system restore affect
more than just one profile? If you, or anyone else, could provide more
information, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Norman
