If I load an application such as Word or Excel or Irfanview or NoteTabLite
and then click on a recent filename, the file loads within 5-10 seconds.
However, if I go to Windows Explorer or My Computer and click on the same
file it takes about 30 seconds for the file to load. Also if I right-click
on a filename or hilite the file and hit delete, it takes 30 seconds for the
'Are You Sure' or the selection menu to appear. This is a recent phenomenon
on my laptop computer, but it has persisted for several months now. I do not
experience the same disparity in performance on my other computers. Can
someone help me diagnose and correct this problem? I have gone to msconfig
and disabled virtually everything, to no avail. Disabling my virus
protection also fails to help the situation.
